After an exceedingly long stretch of stagnation, Stake and Stake.us introduced a new original to their platform in January 2025. But how pumped is it, really?
The concept is simple, to quote from Stake’s own Game Info screen:
- Pump the balloon to increase payout multiplier.
- Cash out at any point to win at the last recorded multiplier.
- If the balloon pops, the game is ended and lost.
- Increase of difficulty will increase multipliers but also increase chance of popping.
In other words, this game is functionally equivalent to Roobet’s Chicken game. You click the “Pump” button to inflate the balloon by one notch of air. If it pops, game over. If it inflates then a new multiplier is available to cash-out or risk another pump.
If you run the game on auto, you specify how many pumps you wish to attempt before cashing out per round. In that sense it behaves much like Limbo in that you will either win or lose based on your target multiplier (in this case masked as “pump” number but still just a predefined multiplier value).
At the bottom of this post you will find a table, which compiles all of the statistics of the game at every difficulty level, as well as comparisons with Limbo and Dice. The mathematical probability is marginally less on Pump than the other two in most cases, but generally falls within that same 1% range. Of potential interest is the Step Increase column, which calculates the difference between one pump and the next, percentage-wise.
Observations
The most interesting elements of this game come in the drastically increasing multiplier toward the highest pump levels of the various difficulties, and the extreme multipliers at the highest end.
On Expert mode, pump 13 gives you a 333.39% increase from pump 12 (68536.13 multi), while pump 14 gives you a 500.17% increased win from pump 13 (291216.80 multi) and pump 15 gives a staggering 1000% increase from pump 14 (3203384.80 multi). And yes, someone hit that final multi at $0.01 bet to win a casual $32,000+ on a whim with their final $15 to go.
